Oregon Trip

Image
This is Art and Jan my husband's wonderful parents. Art will be 87 and Jan will be 90 this year. Jan still rides her recumbent bike (3 wheeler) and Art has always worked hard physically so he has the body of a very fit 40 year old! This is Becky, Dale's brother's wife. She is a lot of fun to be with. They have property out of town at Powell Butte, Oregon, and love their flower garden. Dale is enjoying the weather at Bruce and Becky's place. A great road trip for us. Don't you love those flourescent cups? We had our names on them so we didn't get mixed up. Bruce and Becky built their own log cabin home and enjoy the outdoors.

NPS Secret

This is my son's wife Natalie with baby Lily. She introduces me to the coolest stores in Utah and she's lots of fun to hang out with. Next time you're in SLC, check out NPS Market Place. Low prices for food make it a fun place to shop.

It's Twins!

I could hardly believe it when I saw these in our garden. RED TOMATOES! This has to be a first! We tried a different "Early Siletz" tomato and it actually ripened before the end of August. I think we'll plant those again next year. Usually we have to pick them green in September an let them ripen in the storage room. They tasted wonderful!

Thanks Dave. . .

One afternoon when I was in SLC, I debated as to whether I would go shopping at a store or not. I decided to listen to Dave Ramsey on hulu and this is what I came up with. Town Hall for Hope. So I sat and listened to that for about an hour and a half and got more inspiration on getting out of debt. So consequently, I didn't go out shopping which was very good for my purse.

Utah Nephew

Image
This is my nephew Jeromy Kemp an his two cute children Grace and Keegan. His wife Carrie was hiding from the camera. Carrie said that Marg and I are looking more alike all the time. I think she is right! Jeromy's son Keegan took this picture. At least our heads aren't cut off!

Waterplay

Image
So nice to have a pool at the motel in SLC that we stayed last week. Dale had a safety training so I got to go and hang out for a few days. Natalie and the children came to play in the water on Thursday. Matthew is stunned as he watches his mom blow up the air toys! Taylor had fun too and the temperature of the water was just right. This is Evey. She was the one who had a great tan from swimming in their town pool in Lehi, Utah. Here we have baby Lily. Dark hair and complexion as white as Snow White. She even enjoyed the water.

Rexburg Rainbow

Image
There was a full rainbow the other day. After a nice rainstorm, we saw color in the sky. I don't think my camera does it justice. :)

Mrs. Bean

Image
OK, so after planting and harvesting beans, I decided I would can them. They taste best fresh from the garden but for storage purposes, I put them in the jars. This little recipe booklet must be at least 30 years old. Look at all the spots on it! Just traces of canning in the past. My mother-in-law said I should leave the short stubby ends on the beans because that is the most tender spot...so I did. Dale didn't. Into the canner they go. The canner, by the way, has lasted a very long time too. A good investment. Dale bought it years ago when he wanted us to can pumpkin. Eleven pints from our first picking. I hope to have many more jars of wonderful beans!

Dancing in the Street

Image
Main Street Dance Festival. This is the Russian team. The Korean team was so colorful. These girls are so young! I think they were from an elementary school. They danced in the wind, the rain, and even a little hail! Lovely summer weather in Rexburg!

Dance Teams

Image
Every summer Rexburg hosts the International Dance Festival. Teams come from all over the world and on Monday night they had a street dance in which the teams perform in a parade and then throughout the evening on Main Street. This is a picture of the Korea Dance team. Even though we had some raindrops, they kept performing like the true artists that they are. This is the Japanese team performing on Main Street in Rexburg August 3rd. I like the beat of their drums.

The Pits

Image
Recently our cherry tree was full of red juicy cherries and ready to harvest. These are some of the leftovers. The rest we made cherry juice and canned 13 quarts of it. I pitted the them by hand because I wanted to make some jam in the breadmaker. It's easy...just squeeze the cherry! I put them in the breadmaker, turned it to the jam setting, added Splenda and walla!

Dedication

Image
Last Sunday Cole and Jenna had their son Holdem dedicated at the Calvary Chapel church. The fountain outside was so pretty I had to take some pictures! I think Holdem was tired by now. This is Jenna's family. They are wonderful people and so gracious to Dale and me. We had a nice time at their home after the ceremony. Thanks for inviting us Jenna!
