Turkey Choir

Image
Each year on Thanksgiving day there's something I just have to do ...and that is attend the Turkey Choir Concert. It is a community choir organized with Kendell Nielsen directing and his wife Elaine at the piano. The choir was fabulous! The concert is held at the historic Rexburg Tabernacle with vintage wood benches, ornate radiator heating, and colorful stained glass windows. I went early on Thursday to make sure I could get a good place to sit and to save a spot for my daughter Lori and her two daughters Rilee and Madison. I was there long enough to hear a child behind me exclaim to his parents, "Mom, Charley is messing with the spotlights up in the balcony!" The guys in our family are not into the music of the holidays so much and they could be found at the Rexburg shooting range making lots of noise aiming at targets and clay pigeons. Dale put them through a series of aiming exercises that the police train with. They were happy out there bonding and us girls were cont

I Forget

Image
I forget what this is called but they were doing this outside the junior high in between two trees. This is the gal that brought the webbing line. She was good at it. This student not so good! This stident fell off too but they had a good time. I didn't attempt try it. No way!

Junior High Cockroaches

Image
No, this cockroach is NOT the new Madison Junior High mascot! It came to visit our school by way of Brother Zenger from BYU-I insect specialist. The librarian asked him to bring some of his specimens to the school to show. One of our students, Jade, was brave enough to hold the huge cockroach during lunchtime. Bro. Zenger was my biology teacher when I was going to college a couple years ago and it was funto see him. He enjoyed seeing how the students reacted to his insect display.

Sunday Skype

Image
How fun to see and visit with my daughter Mandy and her family. They live in Hawaii and every once in a while we get online and Skype. It is a great way to see the children and catch up on what is new. Here we have Gladys (who just turned 3), Mandy, baby Frankie, and Kelvin. (Kelvin and Frankie have matching t-shirts.) Cuteness!

Rent Free

Image
We have a pest living rent free in our food storage room. At least he is eating healthy. Hopefully the little varmit will go to a better land very soon once he gets caught in the mouse trap. Nobody messes with my honey crisp!

The Countdown

Image
We are excited to work on our project of getting out of debt. Only the house is left to pay off. I made a poster with a picture of our home and words at the bottom to color in as we pay toward the principle. Dale got to color in the first 5 squares the other day! Hopefully in about 8 months when all the squares are colored in, we will be calling Dave Ramsey to say, "WE'RE DEBT FREEEEE!

Veteran's Day

Thanks to all the veterans who sacrifice to protect our freedoms.

Scary

Scary faces having a good time. Madison and Rilee enjoying the lights of the flash. Oh dear! Ah hah. You go girl!

The Way Home

Image
After the craft show we went to dinner in IF at the Cafe Del Rio. This is Madison, Rilee, and Kimball having a good time with my camera. The birthday girl Lori with Kyler and his favorite vampire teeth. (These teeth are similar to the ones he wore when he was in the Primary program last week. This guy was funny and quite amazing. There was quite a line at the restaurant but he was serving up everyone fast and furious with a good sense of humor too! The food was good and not a leftover was to be found on my plate! More fun in the car. Who would have guessed a little Canon PowerShot could be so fun!

Display for Sandi

Image
Sandi, my friend in California, sent this shirt to me. I love the color pink. I wish I would have noticed necklace is askew. My husband took my picture but didn't see it. Oh well.

Cute Project

Image
This is Mari, one of our students. She created this little "scary house" for a physics project. The doors open with the hydraulics of a syringe tube. The closeup is too cute! Those are candy eyeballs. I thought it was the best project of the whole class. . . and the scariest!

Rexburg Craft Fair

Image
It was time for the Annual Craft Fair at the junior high. Lori borrowed an antique dresser to display her items. You never know what people are going to buy. But this lady knew she wanted a feather headband. She was happy!

Zumba Update

Image
This is the Zumba teacher Aimee. Would you believe she has 8 children! The youngest is a toddler. Here we have Lori giving her a flyer for the upcoming Craft Show at Madison Junior High this Saturday. I'll be sure to post some craft show pictures.

Halloween 2009

Image
Poor Kyler. His Ninja sword broke and he was feeling bad. What's that? You haven't heard of the Ninja Moo? Here he is. . . Three girls before they went to hunt for candy. Rilee, her friend Sam, and Madison. Chad kept saying to the Trick-or-Treaters this was an Obama house and he was going to take some of their candy to give to the poor. Most of the children didn't like that. But he got a few laughs from parents.
